Retail Therapy: How Canopy Relieved My Amazon-Browsing Headache

Whenever I browse for gift ideas or do some online window shopping at Amazon, I get so overwhelmed by the thousands of items that I eventually get stressed out, realize how much time I’ve wasted, then give up.  After taking a time-out, I head over to more streamlined sites and apps like Fab or Gilt.  These sites have fewer items overall, but what they do have is more specific to what I have in mind.  If I find something I love, I go back to Amazon to see if it’s available and I do a price comparison.  I admit I’m loyal to Amazon even if an item is a few dollars more because I’ve had nothing but positive customer service experiences and I can rely on the 2-day Prime shipping. A few days ago while I was browsing the Huffington Post, I read about a new shopping site named Canopy that was developed to tackle the online retail jungle of the Amazon.

Canopy Offers Streamlined Browsing Through Amazon’s Jungle

The site only shows trendy and popular items from Amazon, which are organized by what’s popular, categories, and themed collections.

Amazon.com prices are clearly posted on Canopy

The list price for each item is clearly shown, and you can click on a button that brings you to the item’s page on Amazon.

My favorite feature of Canopy is the Collections.  It reminds me a lot of Fab’s categories, and I can see using it regularly for finding gifts.

Canopy’s Collections Makes Gift-Buying a Breeze

Canopy is technically a referral site, as you can’t actually buy items directly on their page.  Instead, all roads lead back to Amazon, which is where I eventually do most of my online buying anyways.  But with Canopy, the process is streamlined, stylish, and relaxing (as shopping should be). Have you tried Canopy yet?  What do you think of it?  And do you have any other favorite online shopping sites or apps?  Please spread the retail love by commenting below, or sending me a line on Twitter (@southernbeets).
